Kept per sale = price × (1 − platform % − processing %) − fixed fee. Sales needed = goal ÷ kept per sale, rounded up. Conversion needed = sales needed ÷ audience. Green rows fit inside your hopeful conversion rate.

In short

To find a course price, divide the income you want by the number of buyers you expect (audience × conversion rate), then add fees back: price = (income per buyer + fixed fee) ÷ (1 − fee %). With 2,000 people, 1% to 3% buying and a $10,000 goal after a 2.9% + 30¢ card fee, that's about $172 to $515.

Questions

Online Course Price Calculator FAQ

How much should I charge for my online course?

Enough that the buyers you can realistically reach will cover your goal, and no more than the outcome is worth to them. Work out the price your audience and conversion rate need, then check it against what comparable courses, books and coaching cost. If the two don't meet, grow the audience or raise the value.

What conversion rate should I assume?

Your own, if you have launched before: buyers divided by the people who saw the offer. If you haven't, use a cautious and a hopeful figure and plan on the cautious one. The calculator shows the price at both so you can see how much the guess matters.

Does the calculator include card processing fees?

Yes. Enter the platform's fee % and the processor's rate. Stripe's standard US card rate is 2.9% + 30¢ per successful charge; international cards and currency conversion cost more, so raise the % if many buyers are abroad.

Should I price low to get more sales?

Only if your audience is large. A low price needs many more buyers, and a small audience may not have them: at $49 you keep about $47 a sale, so a $10,000 goal needs 212 sales. Check the price ladder to see which prices your audience can actually reach.

Is the goal before or after tax?

Before income tax, after platform and payment fees. Enter what you want to keep in your account from the launch; set aside income tax from that separately.

Does it work in other currencies?

Yes. The maths is the same in any currency; enter every amount, including the fixed fee per sale, in the currency you sell in.
