Kajabi vs Teachable (2026): Which Should You Choose?
Teachable starts at $39 a month, Kajabi at $179. What the extra money buys, what each takes from your sales, and which one suits your business.
Kajabi and Teachable are two of the best-known ways to sell an online course, and they're built on different ideas. Teachable is a course platform first, priced to get you started. Kajabi is an all-in-one business platform (courses, coaching, communities, email, funnels and a website) priced like one.
This comparison uses only what each company publishes on its own pricing and help pages, checked in October 2026: prices, what each takes from a sale, limits, payouts, apps and tax.
The short answer
Choose Teachable if you mainly sell courses and want to spend less: it starts at $39 a month, includes student apps on every plan and remits sales tax on Teachable Payments. Choose Kajabi if you'll use its marketing side (unlimited email, funnels, landing pages, communities and coaching in one place) and can afford $179 a month or more.
Key takeaways
- Teachable costs $39, $89 or $189 a month ($29, $69 or $139 billed yearly); Kajabi costs $179, $249 or $499 ($143, $199 or $399 billed yearly).
- Teachable takes 7.5% per sale on Starter and 0% above it on Teachable Payments; Kajabi takes 0% on Kajabi Payments or PayPal and 0.5% to 2% on other processors.
- Teachable calculates, collects and remits sales tax and VAT on Teachable Payments; we found no equivalent on Kajabi's pricing page.
- Kajabi's extra cost buys marketing tools: if you already pay for an email tool and a funnel builder, compare totals, not plan prices.
Disclosure: we make Klasira, one of the platforms on this list. Every other product's details come from its own public pages, checked in October 2026 and linked at the end. We include each one's real strengths, and say who it suits better than us.
How we compared them
We read both vendors' pricing pages and help articles in October 2026 and compared price, fees per sale, limits, payouts, apps and tax handling. We make Klasira, a competing course platform; it's not one of the two being compared, so it appears once, at the end, as a third option.

Kajabi and Teachable, one at a time
1. Kajabi
Best for: Creators who want the most complete all-in-one and have the budget
Price: $179, $249 or $499 a month ($143, $199 or $399 yearly). Fee: 0% on Kajabi Payments or PayPal; 0.5% to 2% on other processors.
Kajabi covers courses, coaching with built-in live video, communities, newsletters and podcasts, with unlimited marketing emails, funnels and landing pages on every plan and an AI assistant called Cofounder. Affiliates and cohort courses start on Growth.
Kajabi's plans differ mainly in limits. Basic allows 5 products, 2,500 contacts and 1 community; Growth 50 products and 25,000 contacts and adds affiliates and cohort courses; Pro removes the product limit, allows 100,000 contacts and 3 communities, and adds a branded app in the App Store. Extra contacts cost $125 a month per 25,000.
On Kajabi Payments, card processing is 2.9% + 30¢ on Basic, 2.8% on Growth and 2.7% on Pro, with no extra Kajabi fee; on other processors Kajabi adds 2%, 1% or 0.5%. New Kajabi Payments accounts start on monthly payouts with a 7-day transaction delay, and Kajabi says other schedules may open up after the first sale.
Where it shines: The broadest toolkit, live video coaching, a student app, unlimited marketing email.
Watch out for: Expensive; 5 products and 2,500 contacts on Basic; monthly payouts for new Kajabi Payments accounts.
2. Teachable
Best for: Creators who want student apps and tax handled for them
Price: $39, $89 or $189 a month ($29, $69 or $139 yearly). Fee: 7.5% on Starter; 0% above.
Teachable sells courses, coaching and downloads, with student apps on every plan and its own payment system that calculates, collects and remits sales tax and VAT. Certificates need the Growth plan, and affiliates and built-in email start on Builder.
Teachable's plans differ in products, admins and features. Starter allows 5 products and 1 admin with a 7.5% fee per sale; Builder raises that to 10 products, removes the fee on Teachable Payments and adds affiliates; Growth allows 50 products and 5 admins and adds certificates. A Custom plan covers larger schools.
On Teachable Payments, US cards cost 2.9% + 30¢, international cards 3.9% + 30¢ and US PayPal 3.49% + 49¢. Payouts run daily, about two business days after each sale, once a new account's first payout clears (Teachable says that can take 4 to 6 weeks while Stripe verifies the account).
Where it shines: Student apps, tax remitted on Teachable Payments, a large creator base, payment plans up to 36 months.
Watch out for: 7.5% fee on Starter; certificates only on Growth; product limits of 5, 10 or 50 by plan.

What each costs on real sales
Here's a month at $1,000 and at $5,000 of course sales, on monthly billing: the plan price plus each platform's own fee. Card processing is similar on both (2.9% + 30¢ per US card on the entry plans) and comes on top.
| Plan | At $1,000 a month | At $5,000 a month |
|---|---|---|
| Teachable Starter | $114 ($39 + 7.5%) | $414 ($39 + 7.5%) |
| Teachable Builder | $89 | $89 |
| Teachable Growth | $189 | $189 |
| Kajabi Basic | $179 | $179 |
| Kajabi Growth | $249 | $249 |
Teachable Builder is the cheapest way to sell with no platform fee on either. Starter's 7.5% overtakes the $50 price gap to Builder once you sell about $667 a month, so Starter only makes sense while you're testing.
Where Kajabi is the better choice
- Marketing in one place: unlimited marketing email, funnels and landing pages on every plan, so you may cancel an email tool and a funnel builder.
- Coaching and community: coaching with built-in live video and communities, next to courses, newsletters and podcasts.
- Room to grow: 50 products on Growth and no product limit on Pro, against Teachable's 50 at most.
- Lower processing at scale: Kajabi Payments drops to 2.8% on Growth and 2.7% on Pro.
Where Teachable is the better choice
- Price: every Teachable plan costs less than Kajabi Basic, and Builder removes the fee for $89 a month.
- Tax: on Teachable Payments, Teachable calculates, collects and remits sales tax and VAT in the US, the EU and UK and 20+ other markets where the law requires it.
- Student apps: iOS and Android apps on every plan, where Kajabi's branded app needs Pro.
- Cash flow: daily payouts about two business days after a sale, against monthly payouts for new Kajabi Payments accounts.
Which one for your situation?
- A first course and no list yet: Teachable Starter to test, then Builder once sales pass about $667 a month. Kajabi's $179 entry price is hard to justify before you have buyers.
- A coach with a growing email list: Kajabi. Unlimited marketing email, funnels and coaching can replace two or three other subscriptions, and Basic's 2,500 contacts (25,000 on Growth) leave room to grow.
- A course catalog sold worldwide: Teachable on Teachable Payments, because tax is remitted for you in the US, the EU and UK and 20+ other markets.
- A membership built around a community: Kajabi, with a community on every plan, or a community-first platform; see Skool alternatives.
A third option: Klasira
If neither fits, Klasira (the platform we make) sits between them. It takes 0% of each sale on every plan and pays into your own Stripe account, and it includes quizzes, assignments, certificates, drip schedules, a community, affiliates, order bumps and email automations. It is new, though, with no mobile app, no live classes or webinars, no importer for Kajabi or Teachable courses and a short track record, and tax registration and filing stay with you. We compare it with each in Klasira vs Kajabi and Klasira vs Teachable.
How to choose
- Selling courses and on a budget: Teachable, on Builder once you sell more than about $667 a month.
- Want tax remitted for you: Teachable, on Teachable Payments.
- Want email, funnels, coaching and community in one bill: Kajabi.
- More than 50 products, or a branded app: Kajabi Pro.
- Need quick payouts from day one: Teachable (after the first payout clears).

Which is cheaper, Kajabi or Teachable?
Teachable. Its plans cost $39, $89 or $189 a month against Kajabi's $179, $249 or $499. Teachable's Starter plan adds a 7.5% fee per sale, so Builder is usually the cheaper choice once you sell regularly.

Yes. Teachable includes iOS and Android student apps on every plan. Kajabi has a student app, and a branded app of your own on the Pro plan.
Can I move from Teachable to Kajabi, or the other way?

Try Klasira with your own course
If you'd rather keep every sale and need neither a student app nor live classes, try Klasira as a third option. Pick a theme, add one course and connect Stripe, then judge it on your own material. Start your school or see pricing.
